During the Dutch Acoustical Society’s Masterclass, Dr. Anne de Jong gave a presentation on the acoustics of the outer ear. The lecture covered how the ear canal transmits sound to the eardrum and how hearing protection and earplugs affect this process. She also demonstrated how to design this transmission in a targeted manner.
On January 22, the Dutch Acoustical Society (NAG) convened for a master class on the acoustics of hearing. Anne gave a presentation titled: “From the auricle to the eardrum—acoustics of the outer ear and the influence of hearing protection / earplugs”. ASCEE releases version 0.8 of the ACME acoustic measurement platform. This update speeds up analyses for the µZ system by up to three times by saving the Cross Power Spectrum in real time during the test. New features such as automatic signal processing and direct calibration to the DAQ streamline the daily workflow in the laboratory.
ASCEE is launching the new µZ-20 impedance tube for characterizing small meshes and vents for hearables. Without switching microphones, the system measures a wide range from 20 Hz to 8 kHz in a single measurement. This allows engineers to determine the series impedance of small components up to 4,000 MKS Rayls.
